Dr. Di Massimo’s Spezierie Palazzo Vecchio is an artisanal company based in the heart of Florence in Piazza Signoria.

The company was founded over thirty years ago thanks to the experience, expertise and creativity of pharmacist and herbalist Dr. Giovanni Di Massimo.

Now, under second-generation management, the company sells its products online and internationally, with distributors in Europe, Japan, the United States and China.

In 2016 Spezierie Palazzo Vecchio began a close collaboration with the Profumi di Boboli Association of Florence with which it manages the Profumi di Boboli International Prize and its “Laboratory” – a journey through the olfactory universe that allows those with a passion for fragrance to pursue one of several paths, be it study, work, research or simply amateur experimentation.

The history of perfume up to the Renaissance and an olfactory experience:

• Learn how history inspired the birth of a fragrance. To create the first of its “Perfumes of Florence”, Spezierie di Palazzo Vecchio drew inspiration from a 15th century recipe called “Opera della Magnifica madonna Catarina da Forlì et signora di Mola” written by Caterina Sforza De Medici.
• Take an individual olfactory journey by filling out scent analysis cards. Gain knowledge and refine your sense of smell by picking up on different notes like citrus, herbs, fruit, spices, talcum, wood, amber and musk. One example of a raw material used for fragrances is Sandalwood.
